Education & Residency
Dr. Samuel Tack is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He began his academic journey at George Mason University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and completed the Biology Honors Program. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry.
Furthering his medical training, Dr. Tack earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Stony Brook University. He subsequently completed a rigorous six-year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Northwell Health/Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York.
Certifications & Training
Dr. Tack is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has extensive advanced surgical training in full-scope oral and maxillofacial procedures. His expertise spans orthognathic surgery, complex outpatient surgeries, dentoalveolar trauma, and advanced full-arch dental implant rehabilitation, including specialized remote anchorage techniques utilizing zygomatic and pterygoid implants.
Professional Involvement & Interests
Deeply dedicated to research, education, and community service, Dr. Tack has consistently contributed to the advancement of his field. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the VCU Medical Center, where he acted as a course director and mentored resident surgeons while covering Level I maxillofacial trauma calls. He is also a published author, having co-authored peer-reviewed research in the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and contributed chapters to prominent surgical textbooks like Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Secrets.
Recognized for his clinical excellence, Dr. Tack was honored by Virginia Business as one of Virginia’s Top Doctors. He has also dedicated his time to numerous philanthropic efforts, participating in multiple Mission of Mercy medical missions across Virginia and Maryland. He maintains active memberships in several professional organizations, including the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Academy of Osseointegration.
